| Gourangdih ABC Coal Block : An Important milestone for WBMDTCL
|
- The Ministry of Coal, Government of India has allocated to WBMDTCL the Gourangdih ABC coal block located in the Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal, vide order no. 103/6/2016/NA dated 29 September 2016.
- The mine is located at a distance of about 20 km from Asansol. The Gourangdih ABC coal block has been allocated to WBMDTCL for the purpose of commercial mining under the host state category.
- Gourangdih abc coal block has been allocated for commercial mining and as per the terms of allotment agreement at least 25% of the coal produce is to be sold to MSME sector in West Bengal. The remaining coal may be offer to byers through a transparent e-auction process.

| Salient Features of Gourangdih ABC Coal Mine
|
- Total area of the block : 370 Ha.
- Sector A : 127.53 Ha.
- Sector B : 90.83 Ha.
- Sector C : 161.64 Ha.
- Reserved under sector b can't be mined due to dense population and heavily built up area on the surface.
- Consequently out of the net geological reserve of 129.12 Mt, the available reserves for mining are as below:
- Sector A : 27.18 Metric Tonne
- Sector C : 41.20 Metric Tonne
- Total: 68.38 Metric Tonne
- The overall stripping ratio is 2.9 Cubic. Metric Tonne
- Average grade of coal – G : 8 to G-10.

| Status of Statutory approvals of Goura ngdih ABC
|
| As per the allotment order, the scheduled date of commencement of production of coal is 44 months from the date of allotment i.e 29.09.2016. To adhere to the scheduled milestones, WBMDTCL submitted Bank Guarantee of Rs. 42.375 Crore . Till date WBMDTCL is adhering to all the scheduled dates.
